Captured Moments
just got home from Arts Week Performance (or something like that. i have no idea what's the event called) held in the PAC. (our pride and joy: Performing Arts Centre of CJC)
and just to cut things short, it was not good at all.
shan't use the B word. it's just too bad of me.
oh oops. ahh.. whatever.
but yeah. it was Bad. :P
so anyway, i came to notice something while dreaming away in the very comfortable cushioned seats..
as we were watching those students and alumni performing,
i saw flashes of light blinking here and there in the PAC.
well, obviously they were flash lights emitting from cameras..
but what struck me was,
even though the picture may turn out pretty and nice and as though the performers did an excellent job and they earned roaring applauses after that,
nobody would know if what they see in the picture is what exactly happened.
'cos i was thinking, when the audience was taking pictures of that student from China who stumbled quite a bit when she was playing a piece on the piano,
the moment captured would not reflect any of those stumbles.
instead, she would look so professional and spectacular.
'cos she had all that facial expression and body movement going on.
ok. i know its not some sort of
original-wow-ooh-enlightening-revelation or what not.
but it was just a passing thought.
how a captured moment on a piece of paper,
may reflect something entirely paradoxical,
when it is suppose to capture that moment for what it is.
imagine when the world does become advanced enough to really have animated photographs or videos, captured on a piece of paper.
you know, like those magical photos in Harry Potter?
yeah.. imagine if the world really reaches that stage of technology.
imagine, how hurtful the truth will be.
when the truth is exactly the contrary of wad you see in a picture.
i guess good old photographs are still the best.
and actually, before this stage of pixalated coloured photographs,
the previous generation is black and white eh..
maybe black and white is even better.
hides more truth..
like.. when a husband has a mark on his collar of his shirt when he takes a photo with his big client in a KTV lounge.
the wife may think the mark is some food stain when she sees the photo.
but the truth may possibly be a lipstick stain of some KTV hostess.
:P
ok. that's really random..
oh well.. just a silly thought while watching the very Boring performance.
but of course, i still think dance was good!! :P
ok. biased i know.
but hey, i love dance. :)
ciao.
